You are to thank for this current obsession...I had never taken the time to go thru the 68 disks since disk one just has the "filler" from 8-23 on it...but, from your gift I took the time and discovered something I had been searching for this past two years: a rendition close to the amazing but forever damaged version of 6-14. Those two on disk 4 are not as intense, but they are identical in structure and bring new meaning to the tune for me.

My son listened and said he had never heard Jerry play like this--as if he were channeling Jimi or Eric...

That was an interesting listen. I know that we're comparing apples to oranges but to me this version of Stephen is one of the finest:

Also recommended are 1-11-78 and 12-31-78. Not as raw as those '68 versions but perhaps a little more polished.
